Time Is Wealth—Spend It Intentionally

If money is a scoreboard, time is the actual currency of life.

This week I’ve been reflecting on The 5 Types of Wealth by Sahil Bloom, and one particular message hit me right in the feels: most people are rich in time—but poor in how they spend it.

I was also fortunate enough to hear from Carly Brown at a conference this week.

Carly is a business owner, speaker, and cancer survivor. Her story isn’t just about overcoming illness. It’s about awakening.

When she faced cancer, everything got clearer. The noise of hustle culture faded. She didn’t just seek to survive, she chose to truly live. She built a life rooted in purpose, creativity, and joy. And today she’s thriving—not just in health, but in meaningful impact.

Carly’s story is a real-life example of what Sahil Bloom calls time wealth: the freedom to choose how you spend your time, with whom, and toward what purpose.

Here’s what stood out this week from Bloom’s book:

  • Life is about direction, not speed.

  • Wealth isn’t just financial—it’s also time, relationships, purpose, health, and peace of mind.

  • You don’t rise to the level of your goals—you fall to the level of your systems.

  • You must regularly audit: What’s giving you energy? What’s draining you? Are you aligned with what matters most?

In The Steady Leader, we talk about rejecting the arrival fallacy—the myth that fulfillment is waiting somewhere down the road. Fulfillment doesn’t come from more stuff or higher titles. It comes from how you steward the time and influence you have right now.

Here’s your challenge:

  1. Identify your own five types of wealth.

  2. Name one action that will improve your time wealth this week.

  3. Make it count.

You don’t need a life-altering crisis to realign. But you do need clarity—and the courage to act on it.

Don’t just measure money. Measure meaning.

Stay Steady!
