Why Profit Alone Will Never Satisfy
Leaders have a choice every day: lead with authority or lead with love.
In their book, High Road Leadership: Bringing People Together in a World That Divides, John Maxwell and Chris Hodges remind us that Jesus modeled the highest road of leadership. He didn’t just see people’s mistakes, their status, or their past. He saw their potential. He valued people not based on who they were in the moment, but rather on who they could become.
That’s the calling for us as leaders, too.
Love First, Profit Second
I’m building businesses that must produce a profit. But profit is not the ultimate purpose. Profit without love is empty. Profit at the expense of people erodes trust and influence.
Instead, love must always come first. Grace and forgiveness allow people to be more today than they were yesterday, and every one of us craves that chance.
Three Marks of Love-Led Leadership
Value All People – Every person you encounter is someone God values. Seek to see them through His eyes.
Give Grace First – Don’t wait until someone “earns it.” Love leads by forgiving, restoring, and pointing to a better way.
Live Authentically – Jesus didn’t keep score. He gave more than He received. Leaders who do the same inspire loyalty and trust.
Your Steady Challenge
This week, choose to connect with someone instead of correcting them.
Speak life into a team member who has stumbled.
Ask God to help you see people the way He does: with infinite worth.
Love is life. Love unifies. Love conquers all. The faster we figure that out, the greater our influence and the stronger our leadership.
Stay steady.
