When Life Disrupts the Plan

This morning, I had a plan.

I was going to sit down, summarize all that I’d learned this week, and write you a thoughtful newsletter that would help you lead better. I had the time blocked, the coffee brewed, and the notes ready.

Then my daughter woke up early.

She walked into the kitchen, with her hair a mess and eyes full of determination, holding a math worksheet that needed my help. And just like that, the plan changed.

Now, I had a choice: Do I stick to my plan, or do I serve the real priority right in front of me?

You already know the answer. My daughter won.

Clarity Over Chaos

Life will always throw disruptions your way. Plans will get interrupted. Chaos will challenge your productivity.

But when you’re clear on your priorities, you’ll always be satisfied with the outcome.

I didn’t write the newsletter I planned to write this morning, but I wrote the one I needed to write. I gave my best time to what mattered most. And I can look at myself in the mirror and know that I made the right call.

Clarity dissolves chaos.

When you know your purpose and you understand what the outcome needs to be, you can hit the target even when the conditions aren’t ideal.

The Steady Leader’s Lesson

Steady Leaders don’t let disruption derail them. They use it as a reminder to stay grounded in what matters most.

Here’s how:

  • Know your purpose. When you’re clear on why you’re doing what you’re doing, it’s easier to prioritize.

  • Define your targets. Don’t just make plans. Make decisions based on desired outcomes.

  • Stay steady when plans shift. The moment may change, but your mission doesn’t.

I had ten minutes left to write this after helping with math homework.

And maybe it’s one of my best because it’s proof that clarity of purpose wins every time.
