Why We Strive To Win

I recently read a passage from Wealthy and Well-Known by Rory and AJ Vaden that really resonated with me:

“The primary reason that making money is important for a personal brand is because it fuels the opportunities necessary for you to make a difference — and that matters a whole lot more than just making a dollar.”

I think it captures what true leadership, and true purpose, for that matter, are really about.

Money, influence, and success aren’t the end goals. They’re just tools. Tools that allow us to help others, give generously, and create meaningful change.

The “Why” That Fuels Everything

I talk to my team often about this.

Yes, we want to grow our business, increase profits, and reach more people. But the why behind it all is what matters most.

When the “why” is right, it’s rooted in love and service, and your motivation never runs dry.

You can grind harder, lead longer, and endure more because it’s not just about you anymore.

The “why” keeps the tank full.

A Story That Hit Home

After putting my daughter, Beau, to bed last night, I came downstairs and saw my wife wiping away tears. She told me about one of our son’s coaches who was in a tough spot financially because of a situation with his son.

She asked if I’d be okay helping him out, but we both already knew the answer.

That’s what all of this is for, after all.

We work hard, build successful businesses, and chase growth so that when opportunities to bless others appear, we can say ‘yes’ without hesitation.

That’s what stewardship looks like.

It’s not ownership. It’s managing what God has entrusted to us for the good of others.

The Steady Leader’s Perspective

We’re not called to hoard.

We’re called to help.

We’re not called to simply succeed.

We’re called to serve through success.

As leaders, we should see every dollar, every follower, every ounce of influence as fuel. Fuel for growing our impact.

So, here’s my challenge to you for the week ahead:

  • Revisit your personal “why.”

  • Define the good you want to do with the gifts you’ve been given.

  • Build your business with that purpose front and center.

The bigger your reach = the greater your responsibility = the greater your potential to do good

Let’s never forget: we’re not building wealth just for ourselves. We’re building it to change lives.
